A recent study revealed an increase in dismissals for cause (justa causa) in 2024, shedding light on a worrying scenario in the world of work. The alarming numbers reflect not just a statistic, but a reality in which workers face adverse and challenging conditions.

Dismissal for cause, an extreme measure that results in the loss of a number of labor rights, has become a reality for a significant number of employees. But what lies behind this dramatic increase? A precarious work environment clearly plays a crucial role in this scenario.

Unfavorable working conditions, such as exhausting hours, inadequate wages and unattainable targets, contribute to a tense and stressful environment. Workplace harassment is also a reality for many, adding another layer of psychological pressure on workers who are already overburdened.

It is not surprising that these harmful conditions lead to mental health problems among workers. Chronic stress and pressure at work can result in a range of psychological disorders, negatively affecting employees' quality of life and well-being.

In addition, workers' reluctance or inability to challenge unfair dismissals for cause makes the situation even worse. Fear of retaliation or a lack of resources to bring legal proceedings against the employer often leads workers to accept these decisions with resignation, without questioning them.

In this context, sharing accurate information about workers' rights plays a vital role in protecting their interests. Workers need to be aware of their rights and to seek guidance whenever necessary to deal with unfair situations in the workplace.

Fairness in the workplace is not only an individual matter, but a collective need to ensure decent working conditions and respect for workers' fundamental rights. Ultimately, awareness and engagement are essential to bring about meaningful change and create a fairer and more equitable work environment for everyone.
